Miradouros Project
This is an adaptation of a project that was part of an exhibition called Sensing the City- Sense of the City, an inter-city joint venture between Berlin and Lisbon in March of 2022. I placed QR codes at miradouros, or lookout points, throughout Lisbon. The QR codes led google forms which contained poetry prompts such as, “describe the view using only colors.”
I wish I could have each of you come to Lisbon and do this walk with me, but this is the next best thing!
Click on the map above to read the collective poem generated from anonymous contributions. Below, you can watch a compilation video that brings together different voices, languages, and poetic fragments collected from the poem stations.
Now, I’m going to take you through a little tour of the poems I wrote, starting with Miradouro da Penha de França. For reference, we’ll be working our way more or less from north to south (with a couple of lateral moves). Click on the thumbnail for a poem by yours truly, and original collage work by Katharina Sonneberg! Katharina also contributed poems to Nossa Senhora do Monte and Santa Luzia. Enjoy :)
